Adult Engagement
In the spirit of lifelong learning, we provide a wide range of adult learning opportunities through the year. Classes include member-led programs such as Nosh-On cooking classes and Mavens in our Midst, where members lead discussions on their areas of expertise. The Rabbi and other experts teach courses on topics that range from Basic Judaism to Jewish history, Israel, anti-semitism, and current events, among many others.

There are many clubs and committees that make Beth Hillel the engaging, organized, and supportive place that it is. Our clubs are great social opportunities, and out committee members are dedicated to serving our membership and the community at-large.
Activities
BOOK CLUB
Our temple book club meets monthly to read and discuss topical books, often involving Jewish themes. We meet in the evenings on Zoom, to make it convenient for everyone. All are welcome to join, please contact the office(office@bethhillel.net) if you are interested.

CANASTA
Join our lively canasta group, for a fun afternoon of games and conversation. Beginners are welcome.

MAHJONG
Mahjong is a Chinese game played with 152 tiles. It’s a little bit like gin rummy and a little bit like Rummikub. It’s mentally challenging, tons of fun, and a wonderful way to spend a few hours with friends. Beginners are welcome. This is a Members-only group.
JEWISH COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
Fund-raising to support local, national and international Jewish communities.
SOUP KITCHEN
Prepare and serve meals at the Shalom Center Soup Kitchen, 4th Tuesday of every month, plus Christmas and Easter.
MITZVAH CORPS
Provide support for congregation members in need: cook and deliver meals for the sick, provide food and arrangements for shivas, offer transportation for those who need help.

Committees
Events Committee
Oversees the development and management of BHT community celebrations, coordinated with holidays & the traditions of Reform Judaism.
Social Action
To promote and oversee the development and management of Tikkun Olam, human actions that aim to repair our world.
Membership Committee
Recruit, maintain, and support the membership of Beth Hillel Temple. We strive to network within our communities to welcome new members, guide those exploring conversion, listen, and respond to member’s needs. Foster connections among members.
Leadership Council
The LC is responsible for the general management of the affairs, funds, records, and property of the Congregation. It shall act on policy matters and perform such other duties as the members of the Congregation in regular or special meetings may prescribe. The LC shall have the authority to act as the voice of the Congregation in matters of community or societal concern.
Adult Engagement Committee
Entrusted with supporting, cultivating and encouraging an active Jewish cultural, educational and social environment for Beth Hillel Temple. Focusing on
Beth Hillel Temple’s members; those acknowledging/seeking a Jewish identity (including conversion candidates); and the greater community in which the Temple and its members reside.

Reserve the building for maximum usage by a vibrant Reform Jewish community for generations to come.

Ritual Committee
In collaboration with the Rabbi works to create ritual experiences (worship, life cycle events, Jewish Calendar Observances) that are welcoming, engaging, and build community meeting the needs of the congregation.

Communication Committee
To deliver consistent, timely, and engaging communications and messaging that reflect our congregation’s identity and values. This ensures that information reaches members, potential members, guests, and the community at large through appropriate channels, while promoting the mission and vision of Beth Hillel Temple
Education Committee
Ensure the Sunday School students have a well-rounded Jewish Education. The school has a working & evolving curriculum map including special events, holidays, and lifecycles.
Financial Management Committee (FMC)
Serves as an advisory Committee to the LC and to committees on temple financial matters.The FMC oversees temple financial activities as well as provides guidance and makes recommendations related to the financial and long-term well-being of the congregation.
Personnel Committee
Hire and retain solid personnel to grow with Beth Hillel Temple. Serve as human resources for the temple by: managing recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of qualified employees, supporting employees through performance feedback and development opportunities, facilitating alignment on employee roles and
responsibilities.
