General Information
Membership
We invite you to become a member of and stakeholder in Beth Hillel Temple. We are a small tight-knit but welcoming Reform congregation of about 135 member families ages newborn to over 90 years young who generally live in Northern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin. We welcome all who wish to celebrate Jewish life: families, singles and couples, lesbian, gay and transgender, interfaith couples, and Jews by choice.
We encourage you to come to our services, events and educational opportunities to find out what Beth Hillel Temple is all about. You will find that we offer:
Spiritual Leadership– Rabbi Dena Feingold has led the congregation since 1985. Rabbi Feingold strives to know all our members well and is a gifted scholar, spiritual and moral leader.
Worship– BHT offers a variety of worship experiences for participants of all ages including services geared to young children and their families, healing services and home Shabbats.
Education and Youth Group– We have a vibrant religious school serving tots through high school aged students in small classes and an active youth group. Students have many opportunities for active participation. The congregation offers an array of learning opportunities for adults as well.
Tikkun Olam (working individually and collectively towards a better and redeemed world)- Our congregants are busy serving throughout our community and in social action elsewhere.
Beth Hillel Temple has recently adopted a “Member Community Commitment” program in lieu of a more traditional categorical dues system. This approach empowers each member to determine the level of support for the congregation, which they are best able to provide. Members are asked to make a personal “Member Community Commitment” each year.
Contributions
Beth Hillel Temple has adopted a “Member Community Commitment” program in lieu of a more traditional categorical dues system. This approach empowers each member to become an active stakeholder in the support of the temple community. We ask our members to determine the level of support for the congregation which they are best able to provide. Members fill out a Pledge Form and submit it prior to July 1 every year. The pledge can be paid monthly, quarterly, or on an annual basis (July 1 – June 30 billing cycle) and may be paid online or with a check sent in to the Temple office.
