Non-Members Please Note

Beth Hillel Temple is pleased to continue its unique open-door policy with no tickets required at the holidays. If you are not yet ready to make a commitment to become a member of the temple, but plan to attend the High Holy Day services, we encourage you to make a donation to the temple. The temple needs your support to be able to offer services for everyone, and allows us to continue as a focal point of Jewish religious, cultural, social and educational activities in Southeast Wisconsin.

Reciprocal Seating

Will you be out of town on the High Holy Days? If so, please know that your membership at Beth Hillel allows you the privilege of reciprocal seating at any Reform/Progressive congregation in the world. Just call the temple office to make arrangements.

Bima Flowers

Honor your loved ones by donating flowers on the High Holy Days, any of the fall holidays, or on any Shabbat of your choosing. It is always special to have fresh flowers on the bima. Offers will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Gifts will be acknowledged in the announcements at services.

Calling All Musicians

We are looking for instrumentalists to play at the Yom Kippur Mincha (3:30 pm) service on October 9. Musicians must be high school age or up – having played for a number of years. See Rabbi Feingold for sheet music for one or more pieces on any instrument, if you are interested. (There is a keyboard in the sanctuary.)

Team Shofar

Join Team Shofar: Kids and adults (Adults=Bar/Bat Mitzvah age or older) are invited to join Beth Hillel’s growing group of Ba’alei Tekiya—Shofar blowers. Adults will play for Selichot, September 20, the morning service on Rosh Hashanah, September 30, as well as the final blast of the Shofar on Yom Kippur, October 9. Kids play at the Rosh Hashanah morning family service and join the adults at the end of Yom Kippur. If you think you might be interested but need instruction, please see Rabbi Feingold. She also has shofarot to borrow for practice and take-home instructions. Gift shop chair, Janet Geller, would be happy to order a shofar for you if you would like to own one.

High Holy Day Parking Reminder

The parking lots will be cleared by the hospital for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, but please remember NOT to park in the angle parking in front of the building or against the Masonic Temple building. The First United Methodist Church has graciously given us permission to use their east parking lot on Sheridan Road for Erev Rosh Hashanah, Rosh Hashanah day, Kol Nidre, and Yom Kippur day. The parking lot is located at the southwest corner of 60th Street and Sheridan Road with entrances on Sheridan Road.

Family Services

Family Services, designed for families with children ages seven and under, are 45 minutes in length and are offered at 9:00 am on Rosh Hashanah, and at 2:30 pm on Yom Kippur. Children of all ages are encouraged to attend regular services as well.

Tashlich

All ages will enjoy our annual walk to Lake Michigan after Rosh Hashanah morning services. We toss breadcrumbs representing our sins into the lake. Enjoy honey cake, apple cider, and apples and honey at the temple after Tashlich.

Child Care

Child care is offered free of charge during all day-time services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur for ages seven and under. Please call the temple office to make a reservation for your own children and any guests you might bring. We do not know how many sitters to hire without this information! A break room will be offered for children ages eight and up. Those on break are asked to limit their visits to the break room to 15 minutes and to stay out of the child care room unless directly assisting a younger child.

Break-Fast

Join us following services on October 9 (approximately 6:30 pm*) for the traditional Beth Hillel Temple break-fast dairy meal. This potluck is a warm way to end your day of worship. Let us know what food you would like to contribute and how many people will be breaking the fast with us. Please also remember that everyone is required to make a monetary contribution to help defray the costs associated with this event. RVSP to Debra Solomon or David Domash 653-0239 or dsolomon1@wi.rr.com by October 3.
